Newcastle considering move for Burnley striker Barnes

Newcastle considering move for Burnley striker Barnes Newcastle United are reportedly considering making a £6 million offer to sign Burnley striker Ashley Barnes this summer. According to a report from the Mirror today, the Magpies are weighing up a move for the 27-year-old, who has been in good form so far this season for the Clarets. Newcastle may be looking to add proven Premier League quality to their squad this summer, along with added depth in their squad, and Barnes could very well be a plausible option if they choose to pursue their interest in him. However, there may be a reluctance for Burnley to sell one of their three first-team strikers, given that star man Andre Gray is being touted with a move away given the short time remaining on his deal at the club. Barnes has stepped up on a number of occasions for Sean Dyche’s side this season and at just £6m, would be a shrewd addition for Newcastle.

Crystal Palace and Newcastle United have reportedly identified Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton as a possible target ahead of the summer window. Since moving to Turf Moor in 2013

Kane takes top spot in Golden Boot race

"It is the nature of the beast, especially at this level, that when players do well they will get talked about," said Heaton.

"Our biggest strength is our team ethic and our unity. Whatever happens we will deal with it and we'll keep moving forward."

Brighton interested in signing James McArthur .
With Crystal Palace’s position in the Premier League safe for another season, Sam Allardyce can begin to plan ahead and outline his intentions for the coming summer. Allardyce will meet with Steve Parish next week regarding their recruitment plans and transfer activity, with a number of potential targets being discussed as well as players who could find themselves on the way out of Selhurst Park. The Guardian note that midfielder James McArthur is the subject of interest from newly-promoted Brighton. McArthur has been a key member of the Palace squad this season, making 28 appearances, scoring five goals and contributing four assists in the Premier League, helping the Eagles beat the drop. Statistically, this has been the 29-year-old’s best season for Palace since he completed a £7.5m move from Wigan in 2014 and he’s become a bit of a fan favourite in his time. Allardyce wasn’t afforded much of an opportunity to assess his squad and make the changes he wanted to having come in to play firefighter with such limited time before the January transfer window, but now he will get that opportunity, and perhaps McArthur will be one of the players he looks to move on for the right price. Only contracted until the end of next season, this could be the best opportunity to cash-in on the Scotsman if Allardyce doesn’t see him having a long-term future at the club.
