Liverpool winger Mohammed Salah has admitted that the injury suffered by Sadio Mane is “bad news” but ensures that the Liverpool team is ready to “fight” hard for a positive result against rivals Manchester United on Saturday, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo.

Salah has started the season well and has managed to find the back of the net four times in the Premier League so far.

Mane has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury which he picked up during international duty with Senegal.

Sadio Mane to miss six weeks with hamstring injury

Sadio Mane to miss six weeks with hamstring injury Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow as Sadio Mane is set for up to six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty, the club have confirmed. Mane was named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August after an impressive start to the season, netting in each of his first three league games. Away on international duty over the last week with Senegal, Mane played a crucial part as they beat Cape Verde 2-0 but was forced off at the death after suffering a hamstring injury. Further tests indicate that the injury is severe and the pacey winger will now miss approximately six weeks of action, which is a major loss for Liverpool. Mane will miss this weekend’s visit of Manchester United, the trip to Tottenham next week along with games against Huddersfield and West Ham in addition to both Champions League group stage games against Maribor. If initial predictions are accurate, Mane could return for the game against Southampton on November 18th, but the visit of Chelsea on the 25th seems a more likely return date.

“It’s a big game on Saturday, everyone in the world will watch the game. It’s a big game for us too because we have to keep fighting and improve our results. I hope we can get the win,” said Salah.

“We always fight in each game, but this game is a big game and can make a difference for us. We have to improve our place in the table. We have to fight and try to win the game,” he added.

Salah has been a bright spark in a shaky start to the season for the Merseyside club and has already won two Standard Chartered Player of the Month awards.

Klopp 'proud' of Salah's international heroics .
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken of his pride after seeing Mohamed Salah send his native Egypt to the 2018 World Cup, Goal reports. The tricky winger was the hero of his country in midweek, as a 95th minute penalty to defeat Congo 2-1 helped Egypt to secure their qualification for the World Cup. “Very proud. Did anybody see the six-minute video summary of the game? I never saw a celebration like this for 1-0 after 60 minutes – I thought it was a Golden Goal in a World Cup final!” “Then, after 87 minutes they made the equaliser, obviously not a nice moment. Then, 94 minutes, I never saw a celebration of a penalty like this until someone said, ‘by the way, we still have to score.” Salah has enjoyed a good start to the season upon his return to the Premier League, and has been incredibly influential. His move from Roma is appearing to be a coup for Liverpool, who will hope to climb up the table in the coming weeks. “I nearly had a heart attack, I thought I had to go down there and take the situation. But he did it and I would say in this moment he is our No.1 penalty taker.” The Reds take on Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, and will hope to make up some important ground on the top four in the process. “That pressure was unbelievable, he did really well, and after 27 years it’s fantastic news for Egypt.” “That’s a really good generation that they have there and they should go to the World Cup but, how it always is, first you have to be qualified. Now they are there it’s obviously a good moment.” Klopp will be relying on Salah to come up with the goods again, given that his fellow winger Sadio Mane has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.
