Joel Embiid's contract gives 76ers an out in case of major injury

Joel Embiid's contract gives 76ers an out in case of major injury If Embiid were to suffer an injury to his foot or back the 76ers could waive the former No. 3 overall pick without finishing contract.According to ESPN, the 76ers worked with Embiid's agent to put clauses into the contract that stipulate if Embiid were to suffer a major injury to his feet or back and it caused the 23-year-old to miss 25 games or play less than 1,650 minutes in a season, Philadelphia would be able to waive him if they so choose.

It ’ s about Jahlil Okafor ’ s defensive performance against the Jazz last night. I’m not sure at what point his unawareness and defensive deficiencies fall on coaching. He doesn’t work in the pick-and-roll on either side of the ball and the best part of his game is mediocre.

Another 76 ers center, Jahlil Okafor , is still trying to rehab his image after he got caught on video fighting on “Am I really a part of this process ? As for James’ availability against the Celtics next week, Lue said James “got treatment all day today, so I’m not sure if we should be concerned or not.

When 76ers center Joel Embiid tweeted about "The Feds," which he advertised as the future of the team, Jahlil Okafor was not included. That's a big part of what Okafor has dealt with in his two seasons in Philadelphia. While he was originally part of "The Process," he's no longer sure if he's involved in it.

“I'm unsure if I'm still on the team,” Okafor told SB Nation. “Am I really a part of this process? Am I really a part of this culture? That's why the guys have been out there on social media, but I've just kind of been in the dark. I'll go to a Sixers event, smile, take pictures with the kids and stuff like that, but I’m still thinking, ‘Am I a part of this team?’”

The Sixers went so far as to hold Jahlil Okafor in Philadelphia when the team went on a road trip to Charlotte almost two weeks ago, only to end up trading Noel on deadline day. I went to Bryan Colangelo’ s media availability this morning with a simple question — how did we get here?

Jahlil Okafor ' s addition to the big-man mix has been met with mixed reviews, even among Sam Hinkie supporters. But make no mistake -- the decision to take him is The Process ™ in its purest form. This undertaking began as part of an understanding that there would be no stone unturned on the

In 2016-17, the 76ers truly started to come into their own as Embiid finally got on the court and showed his potential and Dario Saric flashed in his rookie year as well. Then with Ben Simmons healthy and with Markelle Fultz coming into the fold, all of the attention is centered on this potential starting four. None of it is on Okafor.

Having played in just 103 games in his first two seasons, Okafor's toughness has been questioned in addition to both his maturity and effort. He was caught on video as a rookie taking a swing at a man outside a bar, and video of a play in which he was lackadaisical on defense went viral. Okafor wasn't great and, in his first season, Philadelphia was worse. He felt he took the brunt of that blame.

“I definitely feel like I'm the scapegoat for a lot of 'The Process' issues,” he said. “Something I learned is that when you lose, people find a reason why you're losing and I think that's where the defense thing really blew up — ‘oh, he can't play defense, that's why they only won 10 games.’ But there were a lot of other reasons why we only won 10 games that season.

The 76 ers said a lot of wild stuff about Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor . There’ s an Australian grunt in him , a grit — he was for sure raised in that country, you can see it .” But if not, I’m happy to have Jahlil a part of this organization,” and then spent the summer offering the once

Like Carmelo, how good Jahlil 's team is going to be is going to depend on how good he is as a I'm not sure he fits with Joel Embiid and I know for a fact that he ' s not going to fit with Okafor . 1/2. I wonder whether we are being too unfair with Okafor . He is a rookie, and for the most part rookies

“And then the second year rolls around. It's JoJo's first year playing NBA basketball, so he doesn't get the blame. And it's Dario's first year, so he doesn't get the blame. Nerlens (Noel) just had surgery, and Ben wasn't on the court either, so I felt like it was me again as the scapegoat.”

Much of the blame Okafor took turned into trade rumors. He dealt with those throughout the year and actually thought he had been traded at one point when he was asked to stay home for a road trip. When he wasn't traded, awkwardness ensued.

At the same time, his coaches are convinced he's not just a good player, but a good person, too, and a 21-year-old who is still learning how to be a complete basketball player. But with all of the things going on, with his teammates often not including him in their pictures of the future, Okafor was honest in speaking about his development as a player.

“Sometimes I do think it would be great to get a fresh start, be on a new team, new surroundings, new teammates," he said after careful consideration during the interview, SB Nation noted. "I think about that often, and I think that's something that could benefit me.”
