Celtic return to domestic action on Saturday against Dundee at Celtic Park after the penultimate international break of the year.

Dundee are unbeaten in three of their last four games before the break, and their only defeat came at home to Brendan Rodgers’ side in the League Cup.

The Hoops enter a crucial 17-day period from Saturday as they face Bayern Munich twice in the Champions League, and face Hibernian in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden as well as a trip to title challengers Aberdeen.

Neil McCann’s side sit eighth in the table after a 2-1 win over Hearts at the end of last month, while Celtic are top of the table on goal difference after a draw last time out with Hibernian allowed Aberdeen to close the gap.

Simunovic suffering from a hamstring tear, claim Bosnian FA

Simunovic suffering from a hamstring tear, claim Bosnian FA Celtic have suffered a major defensive blow after the Bosnian FA revealed that star centre-back Jozo Simunovic has sustained a hamstring tear, as the Daily Record notes. The 23-year-old was rested during Celtic’s 2-2 draw against Hibernian on the weekend before joining up with the Bosnian international squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Estonia, but team medics have found that he’s struggling with a major injury. Bosnian FA team doctor Reuf Karabeg said: “Our manager, Mehmed Bazdarevic and I talked to Jozo’s doctor at Celtic and we got access to all the documentation on the injury’s condition.” “The findings of the scan clearly shows he has a rupture of the hamstring and a hematoma four centimetres long.” Simunovic has since been withdrawn from the Bosnia squad with Celtic fearing he could miss extended time as a result of the injury. Celtic fielded interest in Simunovic from several Premier League clubs in the summer but the centre-back committed his future to the club last month when he signed a new long-term deal running until 2021. Depending on the severity of the injury, Simunovic could miss the League Cup semi-final against Hibernian, the crunch SPFL clash with Aberdeen and both Champions League group stage ties with Bayern Munich.
