Celtic complete deal to sign Leo Mazis

Celtic complete deal to sign Leo Mazis Celtic have wasted no time bringing players into the club during the January transfer window as they have completed the signing of Leo Mazis on a three-and-a-half-year contract this week. Mazis first joined the club on a trial basis back in November and has performed well enough behind the scenes to prompt the club to hand him a permanent contract, joining from Belconnen United, who play in Canberra’s National Premier League. The 17-year-old winger is expected to join up with the Celtic development squad where he will be monitored ahead of a potential future push into the first-team, following in the footsteps of Kieran Tierney and Liam Henderson in recent seasons. Mazis becomes the second confirmed transfer of the window after the Bhoys signed defender Marvin Compper from Red Bull Leipzig for a reported £1m, while a £300,000 deal for Lewis Morgan is expected to be concluded soon, with the youngster returning to St. Mirren on loan for the rest of the season.

Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik has been linked with Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic and Legia Warsaw in the January transfer window. Celtic could do with another central defender , and Bielik could prove to be a smart short- loan signing.

Kundai Benyu set to complete loan return to England

Kundai Benyu set to complete loan return to England Celtic pulled off a major coup in the summer when they signed Kundai Benyu on a free transfer from Ipswich with the likes of Tottenham said to be keen on the midfielder, but so far he’s been used sparingly this season by Brendan Rodgers. The 20-year-old midfielder has made just four appearances for Celtic so far this season and the Express report that he is set to complete a return to English football this month by joining League One outfit Oldham on loan until the end of the season. Benyu impressed in a loan spell with Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town last season, prompting Celtic to move for him, but a return to England to play in league football will be a big step up for him. After earning his first two international caps for Zimbabwe last year, Benyu is keen to start playing regular football to further his development and a loan move would be best for all parties.

Celtic dismiss interest in Rijeka pair .
Despite being linked with Rijeka duo Dario Zuparic and Filip Bradaric, Celtic have rubbished Croatian reports which suggested that they want to bring the pair to Celtic Park, as per the Daily Record. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is open to the idea of adding to his squad this month, however, he won’t be making an offer for defender Zuparic, 25, or midfielder Bradaric, 26, in the current window. Rijeka currently sit 4th in the Croatian top flight, three points off of second place Hadjuk Split, and the pair have been regulars in the spine of the side. Celtic are no strangers to bringing in players from Croatia, after signed Jozo Simunovic from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015, who is now believed to be a target for Italian side Lazio. Rodgers may look to bring in the players during the summer, with Zuparic out of contract at the end of the current campaign, but it looks like neither will be arriving this winter.
