Chelsea and Schalke negotiating move for Baba Rahman

Chelsea and Schalke negotiating move for Baba Rahman Chelsea and Schalke are negotiating a move for out of favour left-back Baba Rahman ahead of a potential move this month. As quoted by the Daily Mail, Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel revealed that discussions are ongoing between his side and the Blues, as they look to offload the defender. “Baba has now been fully training for two weeks. We are in talks with Chelsea and the doctors of both clubs are in exchange.” The 23-year-old has not been a success with Chelsea and has recently been recovering from a serious knee injury, which has kept him out of action since February last year. Rahman suffered this blow to his knee while on loan at Schalke last season and it came at the worst possible time, with the promising defender in a purple patch of form. Chelsea are now well-stocked at full-back, though, and it seems as though Rahman is now surplus to Antonio Conte’s requirements at the club. Although Rahman is stated to have impressed Conte since making his return from the injury, a loan move away is cited as likely by the Daily Mail, as Schalke continue to pursue the Ghanaian.

Birmingham head coach Steve Cotterill has deemed Arsenal loan duo surplus to requirements, and could explore cancelling their loan deals, according to the Mirror.

Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall joined the Blues’ in the summer during then-manager Harry Redknapp’s spending spree that saw 13 new players come in to St Andrews. However, the Gunners pair have unfortunately seen their loan spells turn sour.

Redknapp’s successor and former assistant Cotterill wants to cut his squad down so he can manage a more united unit for the relegation battle the club face, and neither Jenkinson or Bramall look likely to feature.

Jenkinson has made just one appearance for the club this season, despite returning to fitness following a shoulder injury. Bramall has also struggled for minutes, appearing just three times.

The Arsenal duo would join Everton’s Liam Walsh in having their loan deals cut short. The Birmingham boss has also shipped out his namesake David Cotterill and Emilio Nsue since taking charge of the club in October.

Roma eye loan move for Matteo Darmian .
Serie A outfit Roma are interested in signing Matteo Darmian this month, but only on loan. United are said to prefer a permanent deal for the player that joined the club for £13 million from Torino. Roma’s Emerson is said to be closing in on a move to Chelsea, meaning the Italian side have room to improve at the back. Bruno Peres has also been told he can leave the club this month, providing a replacement can be signed. Eusebio Di Francesco’s have been given some hope of completing a deal with a loan move that includes the option to buy in the summer a possibility. Darmian has made just 10 appearances in all competitions for United this season, which include just two starts in the Premier League.
