Chelsea coach backs Everton star to succeed having scouted him previously

Chelsea coach backs Everton star to succeed having scouted him previously Chelsea coach Eddie Newton has backed Cenk Tosun to shine at Everton having scouted him for the Blues previously, the Liverpool Echo reports. The Toffees signed Tosun for a fee quoted to be around £25m from Besiktas in the January transfer window but he is yet to hit the ground running. Tosun hasn’t opened his goalscoring account for Everton yet and has seen his chances in the first-team limited. However Newton, who is evidently a big admirer of Tosun’s abilities, feels he will need time to adapt. “He is a very good player, I watched him at Besiktas and was impressed. In football you rarely sign a player and expect immediate results, especially in January. He will need time.” The Turkish international forward enjoyed an excellent first half to the season in his homeland. He was in prolific form for Besiktas in both the league and in the Champions League group stages. Tosun will need to work hard for his place in the starting line-up under Sam Allardyce, though, with Oumar Niasse currently in a decent spell of form. Newton feels Tosun will need a fair chance to acclimatise to his new surroundings. “The Premier League is the fastest in the world and it takes time to adjust. Cenk is settling in and adapting. I really think he is going to do well in England but needs to be given a chance and time to settle in first.” Everton have lacked quality in attacking situations throughout the course of the season but added Tosun and Theo Walcott to the ranks in January.

Sam Allardyce kept Tosun on the bench for the entirety of Everton 's 3-1 win against Palace, with Oumar Niasse starting - and scoring - in his absence, but Tosun is looking "I'm doing everything to settle in and bond with my new team-mates. I did not play in the last game, but it does not bother me .

Nandha Kumar, Edu Moya, Albino Gomes, Pritam Kotal, Romeo Fernandes, Jeroen Lumu all these players are out. They don't have time for recovery. But this does not matter as I am sure we will play well," informed Portugal.

Missing out on Everton's 3-1 defeat of Crystal Palace did "not bother" £27 million signing Cenk Tosun because he is focusing on getting fitter.

Tosun joined Everton in January after impressing over the previous year-and-a-half with Besiktas in Turkey.

Scoring goals had been identified as Everton's biggest problem in the first half of the season following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, with the club then shelling out for Turkey international Tosun, who netted eight in 12 league starts for Besiktas before leaving.

But by no means has he swiftly established himself in the starting XI at Goodison Park, starting just two Premier League games and failing to score.

Allardyce admits Everton’s season is a ‘write off’

Allardyce admits Everton’s season is a ‘write off’ Sam Allardyce has seemingly given up on Everton’s season, describing this term as a “write off”, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. Everton recently fell to 10th in the table after a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, the same team who beat Ronald Koeman’s Everton side 5-2 earlier in the season, in which happened to be the final straw for the Dutch manager. Due to the arrival of Eliaquim Mangala, the former England manager switched to a back three for the trip to the Emirates but they found themselves 4-0 down at half-time. The bright spark from Everton was Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has seen opportunities rise this season in the absence of a recognised first-team striker. However, he may not receive the same trust next season, with a new striker in the summer likely to be a priority, and a new manager possible. The Toffees’ decent form when Allardyce took over at the club has been truly forgotten after a run of five losses in their last seven games. Allardyce said: “We’ve got to write this season off as quick as we can by staying in the Premier League and then sorting out for the start of next season.” Everton’s next five fixtures are against teams positioned around them in the table, and despite the manager’s recent comments, he will be determined to try win maximum points to set himself up for a fight to finish in the top half of the table.

Porto have a near-full complement of players to choose from, including striker Vincent Aboubakar, who has scored five goals in the competition so far. ' It does not bother me ' - Benched Everton striker Tosun shrugs off Allardyce snub .

Sam Allardyce kept Tosun on the bench for the entirety of Everton's 3-1 win against Palace, with Oumar Niasse starting - and scoring - in his absence, but Tosun is looking at the bigger picture and working hard.

"I am in a completely different league," Tosun is quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.com.

"I'm doing everything to settle in and bond with my new team-mates.  I did not play in the last game, but it does not bother me.

"I am just focused on my game and training hard. I am going to be a lot fitter in a fortnight's time and then return to the starting XI."
