Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis to reach 300 appearances for the club. Pearson had a three-month spell in charge of Saints at the end of the 2007/08 campaign, helping them to a dramatic survival in the Championship.

What term do you want to search ? Southampton's Kelvin Davis was brought on to replace the injured Fraser Forster nine minutes into the 2-0 win over Burnley at St Mary's. Let alone take chances and win. There are good signs. Our journey is a different one.

Southampton’s Senior First Team Coach Kelvin Davis and Head of Goalkeeping Dave Watson will be in temporary charge at the club until a new manager is appointed, but the Saints board want a new boss in place when Saints face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup quarter finals, according to Chief football writer at the Press Association, Simon Peach.

It seems like the 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at the weekend was the straw that broke the camel’s back and with Southampton in serious danger of being relegated, the board have decided to make a change.

Southampton unlikely to move for Marco Silva

Southampton unlikely to move for Marco Silva Southampton are unlikely to make a move for Marco Silva as they go in search of a new manager, according to the Telegraph’s Jeremy Wilson. Twitter: Southampton want PL experience and new man in by weekend. Situations sometimes change… but my info is they are no… (@JWTelegraph) Saints confirmed on Monday evening that Mauricio Pellegrino had been relieved of his duties as the club’s first-team manager. The team are currently sat in 17th place on the Premier League table and after just one win in 17 top flight games, the decision was made to axe the ex-Alaves man. The search for a new boss has begun and Saints are understood to be keen on appointing their next manager before Sunday’s trip to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Although, it seems unlikely now that their new boss will be Silva, who was relieved of his duties at Watford earlier on in the season. Silva has developed a reputation for being a promising young coach and given his experience of the Premier League coupled with his evident man-management skills, he appeared to be a viable candidate for the vacant post at St Mary’s Stadium. This does not seem to be the case, though, as Saints look towards other options for their new manager. Other bosses who are out of work that boast Premier League experience are notably Mark Hughes, Slaven Bilic and Paul Clement.
