West Ham target Barcelona star defender

West Ham target Barcelona star defender West Ham are hoping to sign Barcelona defender Yerry Mina on a loan deal in the summer, according to Football.London. The Catalan giants are weighing up the future of the Colombian defender, and the Hammers could look to capitalise on this by making an offer. Mina has failed to establish himself this season, with Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and even injury-prone Thomas Vermaelen ahead of him in the pecking order, and now reports suggest that Barca could be willing to loan him out. However, West Ham will need to retain their Premier League status if they wish to complete a deal. According to the report, Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez isn’t sure where the best destination for Mina to travel to would be, with the hope to get him up to speed with European football as quick as possible. Barça are also reportedly set to sign Brazilian midfielder Arthur this summer, which would mean Mina would have to leave, as Barcelona’s non-EU player limit would be surpassed, and neither Paulinho or Philippe Coutinho are on the way out. Barcelona hope to get a Portuguese passport for Coutinho, due to his wife being from Portugal, although they will have to wait until 2019 at the earliest for this to happen. The 23-year old joined the Catalans in the summer on a five-year deal for around £11.8million, and has made just two league appearances this season.

Liverpool join West Ham in the race for Dendoncker .
West Ham’s pursuit of Leander Dendoncker in January was well documented but it seems they will face competition for his signature from Liverpool in the summer. According to a report from Italian news outlet TMW, the Reds have identified Dendoncker as a target ahead of the summer transfer window and could make a move. Dendoncker has, for the last few seasons, been a hugely impressive player for Anderlecht and has continued to impress for the Pro League outfit. The young Belgian has been cited as a potential replacement for Emre Can at Anfield, with the German set to move on at his contract’s expiration. A move for Dendoncker could be appealing for Jurgen Klopp given his ability to play both in central midfield and in central defence. Dendoncker was understood to have been keen on a move to the Premier League in January, as West Ham made efforts to land him. However, it seems Liverpool have now joined the race for the 22-year-old. The Hammers may be forced into moving for a holding midfielder in the summer, with Joao Mario’s future beyond his loan spell at the club looking somewhat ominous. Any move for Dendoncker, however, could be down to whether or not West Ham are playing Premier League football next term.
