Arsenal to confirm new manager once coaching staff have been secured

Arsenal to confirm new manager once coaching staff have been secured Arsenal are seemingly closing in on the appointment of former player Mikel Arteta as the club’s new first-team manager. The 36-year-old has emerged as the front-runner in the race for the Gunners’ hot-seat, which is vacant for the first time in 22 years following the departure of Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. Arteta is in pole position to land the Arsenal job and according to the Independent, the only thing left to arrange ahead of the appointment is the backroom staff for the Spaniard. It’s already been a period of upheaval for Arsenal, with several members of the club’s coaching staff leaving, along with Wenger, meaning that an overhaul is ongoing. Club legends such as Thierry Henry and Robert Pires have already been linked with moves to become parts of Arteta’s new coaching staff at the Emirates, whilst current Arsenal star Santi Cazorla could also be offered a pathway into coaching under Arteta. Despite having no managerial experience, it seems the Arsenal top brass have been convinced by Arteta’s credentials to take charge at the North London club. Arteta is understood to be well thought of among those in the Gunners’ hierarchy, with his work under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City having often been praised.

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has been impressed by the performance levels of Santi Cazorla as he Arsenal have several options to consider in the ‘No. 10’ position, though, with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez Cazorla ’s work rate sets him apart from those in direct competition for an important role .

Santi Cazorla says having Mikel Arteta at Arsenal makes life easier. "Upon arrival, I was a little surprised the level of respect that he had in the dressing room ," Cazorla admitted. "But when I saw him with the group and in the field is obvious that almost all the players consider him captain.

Mikel Arteta plans to offer his former team-mate Santi Cazorla a backroom role at Arsenal, if he becomes the next manager.

According to the Mirror, Arteta wants to win over the supporters and he plans to bring in fan-favourite Santi Cazola for the transition of Arsenal, post-Wenger.

Cazorla, who has been at Arsenal since 2012, has been out with a serious injury for the past 19 months.

But in the games he has played, he has wooed over the supporters and plans of him joining the backroom staff could be what gets the fans on Arteta’s side.

Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta, is now the favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger in the next few weeks, after the club finished the interview process.

This follows the news that rival candidates for the post have continued to rule themselves, leaving Arteta as the only serious candidate.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allgeri is now out of the running after pledging his allegiance to the Serie A champions, while Hoffenheim insist that their coach Julian Nagelsmann will be going nowhere.

New York City boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been also interviewed, but it has since been revealed that he has not received any response.

Moving forward, Arteta is considered as what Arsenal are looking for in the wake of Wenger.

He has worked as a coach for just two seasons, most notably at Manchester City who were recently crowned Premier League champions.

But Arteta hasn’t managed on any level and some Gunners supporters are unsure they want an untried manager taking over the reins.
