Sarri expects tough going early in first season

Sarri expects tough going early in first season Maurizio Sarri has offered a gloomy outlook for his first season in charge of Chelsea. The boss is set to take the reigns for his first competitive Blues match today with a trip to Huddersfield, and acknowledges it may take a while for his team to become accustomed to his style of play. Sarri said: “I hope the second part of the season will be very good with a lot of points,” “I expect in the first part of the season some problems. For sure, in this moment, we are not at the top of our potential. We did a pre-season… what can I say? Unusual, maybe. So now we are not at the top.” Outgoing manager Antonio Conte became known for a distinctly conservative style of play by the end of his time in West London, and the transition to Sarri’s brand of expansive football may be less than smooth. The Italian went on to say: “We have to play at another speed,” “If we are able to play (faster), maybe scoring will not be a problem for us but at this current speed, it may be a problem.” The arrival of Jorginho from Napoli should help Sarri communicate his philosophy to the players quickly, given the Brazilian’s familiarity with the scheme.

Huddersfield have been a tough team to beat on their home patch and they picked up an impressive scalp when they turned over Manchester United in the Autumn and Chelsea will be wary of suffering a similar fate. Here is our predicted XI for tonight’s clash.

Huddersfield will afford him space to wander and that will keep Chelsea on the front foot. If he does well, he might be able to return to the starting XI this season. If not, Huddersfield will be the Dane’s last start until next year.

Maurizio Sarri will get his first taste of Premier League football when his Chelsea side travel to Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

After a busy pre-season and a dramatic end to the transfer window, the new Chelsea head coach will be keen to get to work with his new-look squad.

New signings Mateo Kovacic and Kepa are both likely to feature for the Blues after completing moves from Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao respectively.

Here is how we think the Blues will line up in the first game of the season.

Real Madrid preparing £200m offer for Eden Hazard .
According to the Daily Express, Real Madrid are preparing a fresh £200 million offer for Chelsea star Eden Hazard. Hazard was brought on by new boss Maurizio Sarri in the Blues’ 3-0 season opening win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, with the forward setting up Spaniard Pedro for the third. However, the Belgian is a major target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are searching for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus last month. Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois joined Madrid last week in a deal worth £35 million and Real are reportedly preparing to increase their original £150 million valuation for Hazard closer to the £200 million mark. Courtois admitted he has spoken to his former club team-mate since joining Madrid and hopes to see his fellow Belgian arrive at the Bernabeu . Despite the transfer window firmly shut in the Premier League, it remains open until the end of August in Spain, which could leave the Blues without their number 10 come September 1st.
