Shadow work and pensions secretary Debbie Abrahams, who has been leading Labour’s fight against the Government’s benefit cuts, will be temporarily replaced by her deputy Margaret Greenwood while an inquiry is carried out.

It is understood that Ms Abrahams has been the subject of a number of complaints, although no details of the allegations have been released by the party.
