A man in his 40s has been found dead in a burnt-out car in Killiney in Dublin.

Emergency services attended the scene on Thursday evening and the area was cordoned off for investigation.

Reports of a car on fire were also called in at 3.40pm near the local train station.

A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live : "Dublin Fire Brigade were first on the scene today in Killiney.

"A body was discovered in the vehicle and we are treating this as a tragic incident. A file will be prepared for the coroner's court."

The body has been removed to Loughlinstown Hospital, where a post mortem will take place in the coming days.
