  Burglar is suspect for raid that left widow in a coma A 27-year-old Dublin criminal has emerged as the chief suspect in a violent aggravated burglary in the North, which left a pensioner fighting for her life. Pat Davidson (83) suffered a fractured skull, spine and pelvis when a four-man gang raided her home in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, last Tuesday night.The vulnerable widow suffered the injuries when she fell from a window as she attempted to escape the burglars.A senior PSNI detective said police were treating the incident as attempted murder and liaising with gardaí after a vehicle with a fake Wexford registration plate was used by the gang.

A TEENAGE BOY is in serious condition after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run last night.

Gardaí at Tallaght are appealing for witnesses to the serious hit-and-run which occurred last night, Sunday 4 February, at approximately 8.50pm on Cheeverstown Road, Tallaght.

A 14-year-old male cyclist was struck by a car which failed to remain at the scene. The youth was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he is in a serious condition.

The car involved is described as a black saloon car, possibly a VW Passat or a Saab.

Anyone who may have witnesses this collision or who may have information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01- 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.

Girl (3) dies after alleged assault in south Dublin home .
A three-year-old girl who was rushed to hospital after an alleged assault at her home in Shankill, Co Dublin on Saturday has died. The toddler was in the intensive care unit of Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin in Dublin following the incident at her home on Saturday afternoon.But life-support was withdrawn yesterday morning and she was pronounced dead.The girl's mother, aged in her 40s, appeared before a special sitting of Bray District Court on Sunday night charged with assault causing harm.She was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before court tomorrow.
